Classroom Assistant
(Ages 18-36 months & 3-6 years)
Job Summary: Teachers and Assistants work together to supervise children 18 months and up, in small, mixed ages classrooms, and prepare and lead activities, in a holistic, Montessori School setting.
Full Time: 8 -4
Responsibilities include:
* Maintain a calm, clean and beautiful learning environment. * Help keep materials complete, in good repair, and maintained accordance with Montessori's principles of beauty, order, and simplicity. This may include washing classroom dishes, repairs of materials, and daily cleaning tasks.
* Provide behavioral guidance to children in a manner that is respectful, firm, and developmentally appropriate. * Assist children in meeting their physical needs, including diapering, potty training, escorting children to the bathroom, helping find clean clothes and assisting with changing clothes as needed. * Model integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all persons as well as demonstrate respect and appreciation for racial, cultural, and gender diversity.

Education and/or Experience:
* Montessori experience is a plus! High-school diploma, or equivalent, required; two years of college course work in early childhood education preferred.
*Spanish/English bi-lingual is a plus!
* Experience working with children ages 18months - 6 years. Experiences working with diverse students and families.
* Must have good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Starting Compensation:
$18/hour. Negotiable, based on experience.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday: 8am - 4 pm
Time off for school holidays
