Adjunct Clinical Nutrition Supervisor
This position is paid per shift; the total shift includes 4 hours floor time, plus associated administrative duties as described in the contract. The pay range per shift is: $166.07 - $235.53.
Bastyr University’s Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science is seeking an adjunct clinical nutrition supervisor at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health (BCNH), the teaching clinic of Bastyr University. This position includes the clinical supervision for graduate nutrition students.
Nutrition clinic supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead a team of 4 – 6 second year MS-DPD and MSN-MACP students in a weekly 4-hour clinic practicum at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health
- Be available for between 11- 13 consecutive weeks when scheduled for a nutrition clinic shift. If time off is needed, substitutes are available on a limited basis.
- Maintain credentials in good standing
- Read patient charts and prepare for appointments
- Facilitate patient appointments by supporting students ability to interview, assess and educate patients. Up to six patient appointments may be scheduled per shift, two rooms running simultaneously.
- Ensure appropriate administrative paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner including medical charts, referrals, and coordination of care letters to referring providers.
- Provide evaluations on student performance weekly, at the mid-quarter and at the end of the quarter.
- Participate in coordinated patient care at BCNH across disciplines.
- Communicate with the nutrition clinic coordinator about student progress.
- Attend quarterly nutrition clinic meetings.
Qualifications
Nutrition supervisor requirements for employment include but are not limited to:
- Master’s degree or higher in nutrition and active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- Resume or CV and official transcripts
- Active Certified Dietitian (CD) through the Washington State Department of Health
- National Provider Number (NPI)
- Current credentialing through all insurance providers accepted at BCNH.
- Current proof of TB status
- Blood Borne Pathogens and HIPAA training yearly
- CPR –current basic life support certification
Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical counseling as RDN.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated excellence in client-centered care and inclusive, strength-based student supervision.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and electronic health records (e.g. Epic).
