Position Summary:
The Admissions Advisor plays a critical role in recruiting and advising prospective students while guiding them through the admissions process. This position involves fostering relationships with prospective students, managing application records, and contributing to the success of recruitment and admissions events.
Essential Responsibilities:
Recruitment Responsibilities
- Conduct proactive outreach to prospective students through phone, text, and email.
- Follow up regularly to ensure a steady and complete application pipeline.
- Set appointments with prospective students to discuss their academic interests, career goals, and educational qualifications.
- Build and maintain strong rapport with prospective students to encourage engagement and trust.
- Represent the university at recruitment events, including workshops, presentations, and campus tours (both in-person and virtual).
- Engage in occasional travel to attend high school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment-related events
- Collaborate with the admissions team to strategize recruitment activities and plan recruitment trips.
Advising Responsibilities
- Provide individualized guidance to prospective students on prerequisites, program requirements, and how to strengthen their admissions candidacy.
- Evaluate applicants to determine their suitability for degree and certificate programs.
- Maintain accurate and updated prospective student records in the university Student Information System.
- Record all interactions, including calls, emails, and appointments, to ensure seamless communication and follow-up.
- Review applicant profiles for completeness and accuracy, providing timely feedback as needed.
- Educate students on financial aid opportunities and application processes.
Application Processing Responsibilities
- Manage prospective student application files, ensuring timely and accurate processing of materials.
- Track and verify the completion of application requirements, including transcripts, interviews, personal statements, and any other application requirements.
- Communicate admissions decisions clearly and professionally to applicants.
- Coordinate with academic departments to ensure alignment between admissions processes and program-specific requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
- Support the admissions team in planning and executing recruitment strategies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed of industry trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the admissions office.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international students, including Designated School Official (DSO) responsibilities and F-1 visa processes.
- Familiarity with recruitment best practices and trends in higher education admissions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Student Information Systems (SIS).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, SharePoint, Forms).
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to connect with diverse groups of prospective students.
- Knowledge of how diversity, equity, and inclusion influence the admissions process and student engagement.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Adaptability in managing multiple tasks and producing high-quality, error-free results.
Experience and Education
- Minimum of one year of experience in student recruitment, higher education, or sales background.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required.
