The Corporate Functions support the business by providing and continuously developing high quality tools, processes and expertise to enable successful execution of company strategy, effective operations, and happy internal and external customers.
We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team (5 including this role). We are looking for an individual located in the Eastern USA/Canada to lead the global commercial & contracting activities. You will work as part of the legal team based in Spain, Finland and Belgium and help make it all just happen for our customers.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, your responsibilities include:
- Supporting Basware’s sales organization globally to negotiate and conclude commercial deals in a timely manner;
- Supporting Basware’s Customer Success Management (CSM) team with contract renewals, negotiations, amendments, etc.
- Review and improve company contract templates and contract process working closely with deal desk, finance and CSM organsiations.
- Supporting the General Counsel on corporate, HR and compliance matters relevant to North America.
- Negotiating contracts with vendors and partners.
- Cooperating with external counsels when needed.
- Providing training on legal matters for relevant parts of Basware organization
- A degree in Law.
- 6 years of postgraduate experience as an in-house lawyer (for a software company would be a plus) or in a law firm working in commercial/IT practice.
- Significant experience with SaaS/software agreements, Professional Services Agreements, SLAs and Data Protection agreements.
- Ability to work autonomously, but also being able to judge when it is necessary or beneficial to request for guidance.
