The EHS Specialist II is responsible for implementing and monitoring the company’s safety policies and regulatory requirements. They enforce health and safety regulations to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). This position will promote safety awareness to minimize work-related injuries and ensure safe working conditions.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements and maintains safety policies and procedures.
- Creates and delivers various training materials to employees regarding safety and health topics.
- Coordinates training with 3rd party training vendor.
- Ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State, Local, and industry standards.
- Conducts facility inspections and audits relating to Environmental, Health and Safety programs.
- Systematically recognizes and records hazards, then recommends corrective measures.
- Uses the EHS platform to record observations and incidents daily.
- Assists in processing worker’s compensation claims as needed.
- Participates in incident investigations as needed.
- Maintains training documents as needed.
- Must be available to be contacted during non-work hours if needed (excludes PTO).
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS or a related field (biology, industrial hygiene, occupational health).
- Three (3) years of experience in manufacturing industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience combined with an EHS certification such as a CSP, ASP, etc.
- Proven experience with worker’s compensation claims with an understanding of trend analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Broad knowledge of Federal, State, Local and industry standards regarding health and safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe acrobat.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
- This position requires the ability to walk long distances during a work shift, bending, stooping or standing as necessary, and climbing stairs or using a ladder.
- Ability to tolerate working in a noisy, industrial environment.
