Project Managers oversee assigned projects from idea to implementation, ensuring success. Coordinates with stakeholders to identify business requirements. Assigns research, milestones, and tasks to appropriate team members or vendors based on resources and time frame needed. Proactively works with others, based on skillset and availability, to reduce potential creep. Communicates to all stakeholders regarding project updates, timelines, and budgetary concerns. Evaluates effectiveness of projects and adapts as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Understand project goals and objectives as they relate to the company's business strategy and long-term needs
- Manages all aspects of projects from planning through closing tasks and provides regular communication of status to stakeholders
- Builds multi-functional teams for projects including operations, customer experience, marketing, sales, technology, product, finance, and IT, to define the overall scope of project and effort required
- Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple areas are assigned to the same project to ensure productive collaboration
- Creating long and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
- Through partnership with staff and impacted departments per project, defines Key Performance Indicators per project. Prepares measurements for these KPIs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Reviews incoming Project requests and gives input on acceptance, priority, scope, and relationship to existing projects to Manager for final review.
- Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as business needs or financing for the project change
- Proactively identifies project issues and collaborates with team members to initiate solutions and communicate resolution plan to all stakeholders
- Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to proceed with the project
- Uses impartial reasoning to minimize conflict between teams and keep project members on target
- Escalate issues when appropriate
- Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them, including Project Coordinators and Project Associates
- Mentors Project Coordinators and Project Associates
- Maintain project documentation including requirement gathering, change longs, status updates, meeting notes, and retrospective findings, delegating related administrative work to Project Coordinators or Project Associates
- Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain expected standards
- Provides concise and appropriate feedback on project contributors or internal processes to appropriate management
- Communicating with leadership to keep the project aligned with their goals
- Ensures all project deliverables are completed to specifications and approved by all appropriate stakeholders
- Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Avoids project creep.
- Research and manage vendors, holding them accountable to on-time delivery of services within budgetary guideline
- Contributes to resource planning, evaluating staffing needs across departments, working with leads to prioritize work, fill resource gaps, and anticipate future resource needs
Requirements
This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule. Up to two days per week may be worked remotely in accordance with the telecommuting policy.
Education & Experience
- Associates or Bachelors Degree Preferred
- A minimum of 4 year experience in a financial institution or Project Management required
- Strong Communication Skills Required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM
- PMI Certification Preferred
