Responsibilities include auditing accounts, advising on financial information, processing practices, funding and compliance issues. Applies their knowledge of systems, procedures, and customers to perform diverse assignments in support of the day-to-day business efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Function
- Verify legal documents provided by merchants with new account applications using resources provided and available online
- Condict appropriate due diligence and complete detailed reviews of merchant's new account applications to determine financial risk and/or potential future liability
- Partner with management to create, maintain, and implement comprehensive underwriting procedures & ongoing monitoring
- Acts as a consultant for merchants and partners, assisting to resolve risk reviews and mitigate future reviews and risk.
- Establish and communicate to management, Sales, and/or Business Development any reserve requirements deemed necessary
- Identifies, monitors, and mitigates risk issues per bank and card policy guidelines by reviewing applications.
- Conduct periodic risk reviews and re-underwriting as needed according to specified criteria or as directed by management
Additional Responsibilities
- Meet expectations for growth, retention, and customer service.
- Maintain compliance with all industry mandates, company policies and procedures
- Backup for Operations Support
- Develops, trains, and implements educational programs designed to improve merchant's risk profile.
- Provide accurate, timely periodic reporting to management, along with any ad hoc reports deemed necessary
- Assigns compliance and post-underwriting reviews to other departments and ensures timely completion.
- Coordinates ACH processing setup with existing merchants.
- Completes other assigned duties as requested.
Requirements
- This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule. Up to one day per week may be worked remotely in accordance with the telecommuting policy.
Education & Experience
- Associates or Bachelors Degree Preferred
- A minimum of 1 year experience in underwriting required. 3-5 years of Underwriting experience in the merchant services industry preferred.
- Strong Communication Skills Required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM
