About The Position
The person in this role is a highly experienced civil engineering professional responsible for managing complex, high-impact land development projects and leading client relationships. Senior Project Managers are accountable for strategic oversight, technical leadership, and successful execution of multiple projects simultaneously. This role guides proposal development, negotiates contracts, and leads client presentations. Internally, the Senior Project Manager mentors project managers, engineers, and CAD staff, ensures adherence to QA/QC standards, and coordinates with department leadership on staffing and resource planning. A strong understanding of zoning regulations, multi-agency permitting, and interdisciplinary coordination is required. This role demands exceptional project planning, problem-solving, financial management, and leadership skills, and it serves as a bridge between project execution and long-term departmental growth.

Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead large-scale, multidisciplinary civil engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery from concept to closeout.
- Serve as the primary client liaison for strategic project planning, contract negotiations, and high-level communication.
- Lead project scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and resource planning for multiple concurrent efforts.
- Provide high-level technical guidance and approvals on designs, submittals, and regulatory strategy.
- Mentor and develop project managers, engineers, and CAD staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team culture.
- Identify, pursue, and lead major business development and proposal efforts.
- Ensure adherence to internal QA/QC processes and drive continuous improvement in project delivery.
- Represent the company at public meetings, hearings, and client presentations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on financial performance, departmental goals, and hiring needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with municipal agencies, consultants, and developers.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field
- North Carolina, Professional Engineer License (P.E.)
- Strong local experience and knowledge of the reporting area, with established relationships that will help foster new business opportunities and strengthen our presence in these markets.
- 10 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly related to land development.
- Proven experience supervising and mentoring technical staff.
- Proficiency in Civil3D software is required.
