What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Pharmacy Technician position at Bates County Memorial Hospital?
Lead pharmacy technician assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. The Lead Pharmacy Technician also has additional responsibilities related to record keeping, ordering, and assisting the Pharmacist in training of new Pharmacy personnel. The Lead Pharmacy performs duties of all Pharmacy Technicians when assigned. Under the general supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in performing the daily functions required in order to maintain the Pharmacy Department. These include, but are not limited to, receiving and filling orders, entering medication charges into patient profiles, preparing intravenous admixtures, check/verify/reconcile/replace floor stock, handle medication invoices, and perform the annual inventory.
