What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be responsible for the firm’s payroll process. You will work closely with the Controller and Human Resources to ensure that compensation and benefit data changes required for each bi-weekly payroll are entered promptly for the efficient and effective processing of payroll. You will:
- Prepare and verify bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll accuracy and completeness by the established processing deadline, including regular and overtime pay, bonus earnings, supplemental pay, etc.
- Calculate pay adjustments for new hires, status changes, terminations, overtime, retro adjustments, etc.
- Extract timesheet data from the accounting system and validate for upload to UKG, including reviewing hours worked and follow-up on missing time entry, if applicable.
- Maintain supporting files of payroll inputs by payroll, as well as post-payroll reports from UKG including tax liability reports and payroll checklists.
- Compile analytics for each bi-weekly payroll including comparison with the prior bi-weekly payroll and payroll audit report. Investigate differences, if applicable.
- Create and record payroll AJEs in the accounting system for each payroll period. Reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain UKG payroll quarterly reports, review and reconcile to General Ledger.
- Maintain 401(k) contributions process.
- Assist with the set-up of 401(k) loan repayment withholdings in UKG for new loans in compliance with the 401(k) loan repayment schedule.
- Process employee changes related to direct deposit and tax withholdings and update employee record in UKG.
- Maintain earnings codes and set up state local tax codes in UKG.
- Assist with the year-end closing process including reconciliation of UKG summary totals to the accounting General Ledger.
- Review existing General Ledger codes in accounting system and map/create corresponding codes in UKG.
- Assist with the Workers’ Comp audit.
- Assist with tracking and processing various deduction types as needed.
- Assist with W-2 process by following the UKG W-2 procedures and timeline.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide payroll training to new employees.
- Adhere to firm compliance and internal deadlines.
- 5 years’ experience in payroll, accounting, or similar role.
- BS/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Experience processing payroll in UKG (formerly known as UltiPro) required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Precise attention to detail.
- Analytical mind with strong quantitative skills.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Must possess knowledge of and have experience with processing payroll, including compliance with federal and state legislation, wage, and hour laws, FLSA, fringe benefit issues and applicable labor laws.
- May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

- Competitive compensation—the salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000. This position is also eligible for bonus compensation on a discretionary basis. The actual salary offered for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including qualifications and experience, education, external market data, and internal equity.
