System and Network Management:
Are you a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to technology? Batesville Products is looking for a well-rounded IT Specialist at our small, family-owned manufacturing company.
The IT Specialist builds and maintains updated and efficient computer systems, networks, and phone systems to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability. The IT Specialist resolves in-office issues related to hardware, software, and other computer systems. This tech-savvy employee performs remote and in-office troubleshooting as well as regular maintenance to diagnose, resolve and maintain any IT related issues for employees. The IT Specialist identifies and executes maintenance and continuous improvement projects. IT Specialist gathers data across the business, analyzes it, translates the results, and develops reports for team members. The IT Specialist works in collaboration with all departments to improve business performance results.
Key Responsibilities:
System and Network Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network systems.
- Monitor network performance and security, ensuring optimal functionality and protection against cyber threats.
- Perform regular system updates, backups, and maintenance.
Technical Support:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to employees for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT problems promptly.
- Train staff on new systems and technologies.
Cybersecurity:
- Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive data and systems.
- Identify and mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
Hardware and Software Management:
- Manage the inventory, procurement, and deployment of IT equipment such as laptops, desktops, and peripherals.
- Install, update, and maintain software applications including licenses, certificates and compliance requirements to meet organizational needs. This includes PC based computer hardware, software, networks, printer, scanners, smartphone and tablets.
- Work to reduce technology footprint, standardizing on software and hardware components.
Application Management:
- Oversight and administration of ERP software and database accuracy.
- Develop, implement and administer business information reports inside ERP and other software platforms.
- Train staff on how to create such documents.
- Perform custom application changes in development, validation in testing and production environments.
- Research, test and install major application releases and patches during regular maintenance windows and assist with any post-production issues.
Project Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT aspects of company projects.
- Plan and manage projects to meet timeline, cost, productivity, quality, and safety goals.
- Participate in continuous improvement events.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
- Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and IT-related metrics.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Create and manage IT budget.
- Oversight of specific inventory control functions.
- Perform other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of this position.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. An Associate degree with work experience will be considered. IT Certifications will be an advantage (i.e., CompTIA A , Microsoft Certified IT Professional, CISM, ITIL, CAP)
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of proven IT experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with system administration, troubleshooting, and networking.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating systems (MS Office applications, ERP, Office 365)
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs) and hardware.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and cybersecurity tools.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Macro development and report writing skills.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is both encouraged and expected.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walking, standing, sitting, listening, and talking on a wide variety and continual basis. Movement generally throughout the manufacturing areas required. Ability to travel to local plants on a regular basis
