Your Role At Batesville
As a Lean Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting the Continuous Improvement and Quality departments in designing, implementing, and sustaining Lean/CI initiatives across the campus and will serve as a change agent to help lead our Lean journey. The Lean Engineer will require hands on involvement in the Company’s Lean implementation and will utilize their technical expertise and leadership skills to identify and implement significant Quality process improvements. This position is designed to develop high potential talent through our Lean manufacturing system.

- Metrics monitoring: Collect, organize, and analyze data to identify systemic process improvement opportunities and Quality issues.
- Assist in the strategic direction rollout: Training, Coaching and facilitation of Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, and Quality initiatives to grow the Continuous Improvement culture.
- Lean and Six Sigma toolkit includes: Gemba walks, Value Stream Analysis, Process Mapping, and Motion and Time studies, SMED, 5S, Standard Work Combination Tables, Job Instructions, Kanban, and others.
- Kaizen facilitation: Lead and support the activities of Kaizen teams, maintenance support personnel, production personnel, and support staff in developing new approaches to problem solving.
- Waste reduction: Identify and eliminate non-value add activities focusing on the 8 wastes of Lean.
- Build relationships across all levels and departments of the organization to understand ongoing operational issues and help lead improvement and implementation of sustainability controls.
- Perform business assessments and make operational recommendations to other functional areas.
- Maintain Job Instructions and Kanban cards, assist with Ergonomics assessments.
- Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and recommend process improvements to management.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college/university in engineering, operations, quality, or related field.
- Proficiency in Lean tools – Strong working knowledge of lean tools such as 5S, VSM, SMED, Kanban, TPM, TQM etc.
- Attention to detail: Ability to evaluate smaller process issues without negatively impacting other areas of the organization.
- Analytical thinking and Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex data sets to draw insights and convert to actionable improvement plans.
- Voice of the Customer / Process: Act as a change agent gaining acceptance and buy-in from others.
- Software proficiency: MS Office 365 Excel, PowerPoint, Word, AutoCad, JDE, Minitab is a plus.
- 3-5 years Lean or Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification with hands on project based experience.
- Previous Continuous Improvement operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly.
