POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Bath Area Family YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Grants Manager works with the Chief Development Officer and Senior Leadership Staff to maximize the organizations grant revenue and mission impact in the communities we serve and ensure that our services are provided equitably to all. This position is responsible for all aspects of grant writing, coordination, and post-award support, with attention to mission impact and equity for both the Bath and Brunswick branches.

ESSENTIAL duties and responsibilities:

Grant Identification and Research

  • Proactively identify annual, multi-year, and capital grant opportunities aligned with the YMCAs mission and strategic priorities.
  • Conduct thorough research on funding opportunities, potential grantors, and eligibility requirements.

Proposal Development

  • Collaborate with program staff and leadership to assess funding needs and align them with appropriate grant opportunities.
  • Draft compelling, mission-driven grant proposals, narratives, and budgets that reflect program goals and community needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant applications.

Grant Management and Compliance

  • Maintain a comprehensive system to track application activities, funding statuses, compliance requirements, and reporting deadlines.
  • Monitor implementation of grant-funded activities and deliverables, ensuring adherence to funder guidelines.
  • Support post-award stewardship, including required grant reporting and communication with funders.
  • Evaluate programming outcomes to ensure alignment with community needs and YMCAs mission.
  • Develop systems to measure, analyze, and report program impact.

Community and Partnership Development

  • Foster relationships with funding organizations, community partners, and stakeholders to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Work with the Marketing Director to share grant-funded initiatives, Y impact stories, and community benefits.

Organizational Support and Mission Advocacy

  • Serve as a resource to leadership and program staff regarding grant opportunities and requirements.
  • Participate in Expanded Senior Leadership Team meetings and activities.
  • Participate in monthly Leader on Duty and On Call rotations.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Ys mission and act as an advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and social impact within the community.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Accept and perform additional responsibilities to support the Ys goals and initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods and be able to communicate using a computer, phone, or smart device.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach, and move around the work environment.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • In a hybrid work environment, the employee will balance in-person work with remote tasks, managing their workload and conducting meetings virtually as needed. The office space for this position is provided at our Landing Y location in Brunswick.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in grant writing, research, and post-award grant management.
  • Experience collaborating with senior management, community organizations, and government entities to plan and implement programs.
  • Experience delivering presentations in both in-person and virtual formats.

  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, persuasive, and compelling grant narratives.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collect and analyze program data, draw valid conclusions, and report outcomes effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical writing and editing skills, and problem-solving
  • Organized with the ability to develop strategies, create schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Skilled in multitasking and managing diverse responsibilities resourcefully.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships.
  • Proficiency in grant management systems and/or CRM platforms such as DonorPerfect, Blackbaud, Salesforce, Classy, Bontera, or like services.
  • Commitment to the Ys mission, values, and equity-focused work.
  • Ability to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of the YMCA organization, its departments, and functions.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Current CPR/AED/Emergency Oxygen Administration certifications through the American Red Cross, YMCA, or willingness to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
