Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Assessment and Triage: Perform initial assessments, triage patients based on acuity, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Emergency Procedures: Conduct emergency medical procedures, such as intubations, suturing, fracture reductions, and resuscitations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, physician assistants, specialists, and support staff, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and outcomes.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to provide clear information and compassionate care.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Training: Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine or a related specialty.
- Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in Virginia.
- Certification: Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in an emergency department setting, particularly in a rural or critical access hospital, is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, ability to work under pressure, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in emergency medical procedures.
