What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utilities Maintenance Person position at Bath Electric Gas and Water Systems?
The Village of Bath’s utility department, Bath Electric, Gas and Water Systems (BEGWS), is seeking qualified candidates to fill our Maintenance Person positions. Potential candidates with background in Natural Gas, Water, or Sanitary Sewer / Waste Water are encouraged to apply.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Assists in operation and maintenance of natural gas distribution system, water distribution system and/or sanitary sewer collection system including pumps, pipelines, valves, etc.;
· Tests for and locates leaks;
· Inspects and lubricates hydrants
· Performs installation and repair work on gas, water and sewer lines;
· Helps install and repair valves and pumps;
· Performs excavation and back-fill in connection with Gas, Water and Sewer System installation and repair activities
· Cleans and maintains sanitary sewers;
Starting annual salary for the position is $61,901 with possible overtime associated with overtime and call-outs along with pay incentives for obtaining related licenses and/or certifications. BEGWS benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; paid vacation, personal time, holidays, sick time, and New York State Retirement.
