Description of Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Medical and Clinical Director with patient examinations or procedures and any clerical work needed.

Scope of Supervision
Responsibilities of the Scheduling Coordinator include the following:
1. Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
2. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
3. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height, BMI and neck circumference.
4. Authorize drug refills as the Provider approves them and provide prescription information to pharmacies and prior authorizations from insurance companies for drug refills.
5. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
6. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
7. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
8. Help with HME department as needed.
9. Contact patients after their study is complete to let them know the status of their HME.
10. Send medical records when requested.
11. Work with and assist other departments in daily functions and activities.
12. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
13. Participate in the Company’s Performance Management program as requested by the Performance Management Coordinator.
14. Participate in Company committees when requested.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by Office Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
3. Strong communication skills in speaking and writing.
4. Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
5. Computer skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
6. Completion of a Medical Assitant Program.
7. Have at least one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
Physical Requirements

1. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
2. The employee is required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment.
3. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employee will have to travel to Zachary on Wednesday's for clinic in Zachary, 7am-3pm. All other days in Baton Rouge at our main clinic, 8am-4:30pm.
Full-Time
