JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION Works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to participate in the delivery of patient care for the improvement of quality of life for patients and families. Performs job duties appropriately for the age population served as defined in the departments scope of service.

JOB FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
1. Provides direct patient care, incorporating the patients plan of care and following approved policies and procedures.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
· Provides technical skills that incorporate the patients plan of care and comfort measures given to patients.
· Reports changes in the patients condition, in a timely and accurate manner, to the Registered Nurse.
· Receives and assists patients and visitors to the department.
· Assists with the admission of patients to the department.
· Performs effectively in emergency response situations.
2. Performs specialized patient care techniques in Wound & Hyperbaric Care Unit.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
· Prepares and assists in patient preparation for treatment.
· Reinforces education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.
· Performs duties and procedures as directed by the Medical Director and Registered Nurse.
· Prepares hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance as required.
· Monitors the patient and reports any adverse reactions the patient may be experiencing during the treatment to hyperbaric physician and/or Registered Nurse.
· Lifts and transfers patient using appropriate technique.
· Assists in patient transport.
· Assists in the maintenance of equipment.
· Stocks and maintains supplies.
3. Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patients medical condition.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
· Keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation.
· Continually gathers data to assist Nurse with developing plan of care.
· Obtains and documents vital signs and Accu Checks.
· Assists in ensuring appropriate charge capture, and assists in tracking lost charges.
4. Practices appropriate safety, environmental, and infection control procedures.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
· Performs waste removal from the department.
· Processes (cleans and stores properly) equipment/supplies used in the department.
· Maintains equipment per checklists an cleans according to infection control standards.
· Actively participates in maintaining the cleanliness of the patient care environment.
· Ensures patient safety by adhering to BRGMC Safety Policy guidelines.
· Follows BRGMC policies and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of equipment.
· Performs or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Previous job experience preferred.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or Basic EMT Certification or Military Medic experience or Nursing Student with completion of fundamental nursing clinical in RN program preferred.
Working knowledge of hyperbaric techniques and procedures preferred.
Working toward Certified Hyperbaric Technologist designation preferred.
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, medical records related to quality/data, patient financial information, patient billing 3rd party, patients related complaints, information related to patient location, patients religious beliefs, and/or research information.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, transporting patients, transporting medications and blood, and monitoring clinical alarms.
