JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Administers nursing care to designated residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect resident care duties in accordance with the needs of the age population served, as defined in the facility's scope of service.

JOB FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
1. Completes the Nursing and Nutritional Assessment.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Assessment data will be completed within twenty-four hours of admission, as observed by chart review.
- Observe residents and abide by the emergency medical policy
- Completes documentation before completion of shift, as observed by chart review.
2. Performs resident care according to standards of care and the needs of the resident.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Identify psychiatric and medical emergencies.
- Provides educational groups to the residents.
- Completes vital signs on assigned residents at assigned times
- Completely and accurately documents medication administration, treatments, collected data, interventions, and unusual occurences, as observed by chart review.
- Administers medications as prescribed by physician.
- Performs treatments as prescribed by physician.
- Performs duties of the House Manager if assigned and qualified.
- Supervise activities of the facility when the professional staff is not on duty.
- Perform clinical duties only if licensed to do so.
- Report incidents of abuse, neglect and misappropriation to the medical director.
- Identify and respond to and report any crisis to the clinical supervisor when it occurs.
- Coordinate and consult with Practitioners and the clinical staff as needed.
3. Performs all other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One-year experience preferred
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Current Louisiana LPN licensure
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, medical records related to quality/data, resident financial information, resident related complaints, information related to resident location, residents’ religious beliefs and/or public health records.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, resident identification, administers medications, validates residents for any procedures/surgery, and transports.
