Description
JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION : Responsible for the day-to-day management, operation and accountability for a functional area. Makes decisions, within guidelines, that could seriously affect the division, department and / or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. Develops and monitors the budget for area. Direct reports may include supervisors, and / or staff employees including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs duties for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

Plans, directs and coordinates the Accounting and Reimbursement departments functions and activities with the senior management team.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS :
Responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and reimbursementEnsures accurate and timely preparation of financial reports for internal and external use.Support operational decision making concerning financial issues by providing data analysis and recommended courses of action.Support senior management by presenting financial statements and performance measures monthly to leadership.Act as liaison between operations and finance.Conduct monthly review meetings with department leaders for all hospital areas assuring adherence to budgeted expectations and assisting with corrective action as needed.Conduct monthly production meetings with all First Care physicians to review individual financial performance.Coordinate preparation of monthly labor productivity reports.Responsible for departmental benchmarking, operational analysis.6. Supervises and assists in preparation of financial statements, reconciling general ledger accounts and budget review.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS :
Prepares and reviews financial statements data input according to established procedures and generally accepted accounting principles within deadlines designed by the working day timetable.Plans and coordinates the preparation of annual operating and capital budgetsAnalyzes budget variances based upon designed materiality levels prior to financial statement completion deadline established by working day timetable.Delivers financial statements to appropriate customer free of material misstatements as measured by the appropriate manager.Completes all assignments within the established time frame, including :o Year-end inventory observations as assigned by Director
o Assists operations in preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
o Delivers appropriate financial information to auditors in a timely manner established by either a client assistance package or an audit timetable.
o Completes special reports as assigned
o Maintains ledgers and additional internal and external reports for distribution
o Prepares Surveys as needed
7. Identifies ways to improve the accuracy of reports and the efficiency with which reports are created.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS :
Communicates with operations personnel to understand their business and financial needs on an ongoing basis.Continually advances knowledge of software systems used directly or indirectly with the financial statement preparation process.Willingly shares professional expertise with others in the department when appropriate and necessary.Uses available technology and software systems efficiently in completing the assigned tasks.8. Performs other duties as assigned.
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS :
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to : Patient demographic information, patient financial and / or 3rd party billing information.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS :
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5 years of accounting experience or other comparable financial work experience. Prior management experience in a healthcare or public accounting environment preferred.
Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
College degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
