Description
JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION : Responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the assigned nursing unit(s). Makes decisions, within guidelines, that could seriously affect the division, department and / or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. Monitors the budget for area. Direct reports include supervisors, and staff employees including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs job for the age population served as defined in the department's scope of service.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prior management experience preferred
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Unit-specific training courses completed within 6 months in position.
National certification in area of expertise strongly preferred.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Current Louisiana Nursing License.
Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
Knowledge of related accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Employee development and performance management skills.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years OR experience, with 2 years of previous management experience preferred.
Ability to supervise and coordinate surgical staff, including nurses, surgical technologists, anesthesiologists, and support personnel across multiple shifts.
Proficiency in conflict resolution, team motivation, and staff development.
