Job Summary:
The Field Trailer Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections on semi-trailers at customer locations and in the field. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot issues, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to customers. The Field Trailer Technician ensures that trailers meet safety and operational standards while maintaining compliance with company and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trailer Maintenance and Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues on semi-trailers, including brake systems, lights, tires, suspension, and other components.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and maintenance to ensure trailers remain in safe working condition and comply with DOT regulations.
- On-Site Service: Provide mobile repair and maintenance services at customer locations, responding promptly to service requests.
- Documentation: Complete work orders, inspection forms, and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures, regulations, and company policies while performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with management to explain repairs, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction with services rendered.
- Parts Management: Maintain an inventory of parts and tools on the service vehicle, ensuring adequate stock for common repairs.
- Team Collaboration: Work with the repair team, fleet managers, and service coordinators to prioritize and complete work efficiently.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in mechanics or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a trailer technician or similar role, with a strong understanding of semi-trailer systems. (preferred, not required)
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing trailer components such as air brakes, suspensions, axles, electrical systems, and hydraulics. (preferred, not required)
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards for trailers. (preferred, not required)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Pay: $17.50 - $24.05 per hour
