What are the responsibilities and job description for the SERVER - PT position at Batter Up Bistro?
Batter Up Bistro is a family owned and operated upscale casual/fine dining restaurant and bar.
We are looking for an experienced Server to provide high quality service to our guests consistently. As a Server, you will take orders from guests and serve food and beverage items in an efficient and friendly manner. You should be energetic and have good communication skills with the ability to interact with others. As a Server, you will need to know our food preparation techniques and can handle challenging situations quickly. This position may include working special events and may require lifting on certain special events that require room resets.
Qualifications
- Must be available to work weekends and be flexible in schedule
- Has at least 2 years as a server in a high-end service environment
- Must be able to safely balance and carry a tray with drink and/or dishes
- Has a reputation for excellent relations with guests and front and back of house staff
- Has worked effectively as part of a team

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following are intended as basic requirements. Success will come to the individual who can expand upon these job requirements and truly provide a memorable experience.
- Speaks knowledgeably and accurately about all meu items, including core and special menu items, specialty coffee drinks, all tap beers, wine glass pours, “classic cocktails”, and house liquors
- Reviews menu and 86 lists each shift for updates
- Develops familiarity with current POS system, and correctly enters orders
- Competently pairs menu items with wines and beers
- Follows Batter Up systems for proper wine service
- Seeks manage/supervisor assistance with guests, when appropriate
- Accurately takes and delivers orders
- Clear tables throughout the dining experience using proper methods for removing dishes, glassware, and silverware. Maintain table cleanliness throughout the meal
- Maintains a clean dining room and service stations
- Speaks to guests to ensure satisfaction with food, drinks, and service
- Present bills, accept payments, operate POS system, uphold strict cash handling procedures and accountability for all transactions
- Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Ensure 100% compliance with all Company policies and laws, including health and safety standards
- Arrives on time for all shifts
- Follows table maintenance systems for marking, pre-bussing, setting, etc.
- Takes initiative to help in other areas of the bistro, as needed
Physical Demands
- Must be able to safely balance and carry a tray with drink and/or dishes
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, shaking, stirring, pouring, carrying supplies and other activities necessary throughout entire shift
Time Management
- Work shifts along with the possibility of additional hours during weeks of special events
- Compensation time off for additional hours worked will be reviewed with Leadership Team
- Accountable to arrive on time to shifts and meetings
