Position Summary


Provide case management, advocacy support, and community referrals to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking using the Trauma-Informed Care Model. Assess survivor needs, create individualized case plans, collaborate with community partners, and promote resiliency and empowerment.


Job Description


Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice or related field preferred. If no degree, 2-years related experience required.
  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistance certification highly preferred.
  • At least 2 years of case management experience required.
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive case management to support survivors and their families in addressing various needs including housing, employment, educational, and mental/emotional health needs, assisting them on their path to self-sufficiency through a trauma-informed, empowerment-centered approach
  • Provide confidential services to survivors including, but not limited to, case management services, crisis intervention, safety planning, and follow-up support as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate specialized workshops and programming for individuals and families in shelter to support trauma recovery and to enhance life and self-sufficiency skills.
  • Completely all required documentation including intake assessment, individualized case plans, progress notes, and other services interactions in accordance with program deadlines
  • Assist with providing shelter coverage when needed, maintain/contribute to the health and safety of everyone in shelter, transport survivors when needed, facilitate conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques, and encourage and model positive shelter interactions by connecting with each survivor daily.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members, volunteers, and other community organizations to ensure best practices in service delivery.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled and participate in staff development activities.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program goals and objectives, ensuring the quality of services delivered to the survivors and community.
  • Always adheres to Service Excellence standards.
  • Represent Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center by participating in community activities, coalitions, and taskforce groups as requested or assigned by Supervisor and/or Director.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment: This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Hours vary and may include evenings, weekends and holiday coverage


Additional Qualifications


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with diverse populations. Ability to model open communication, fair and equitable treatment, management of conflicts, and be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel.
