What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at Batteries Plus?
The HR Generalist is responsible for collaborating with leadership in support of associates in our corporate retail store locations. This position will manage and resolve associate relations issues, provide guidance to leadership on associate related manners and participate in HR department tasks/projects to support team development.
The position is located in Hartland, WI and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement
Associate Relations
- Trains management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of associate relations issues.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
- Support wage programs to ensure compliance and equity within functional teams.
- Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
- Prepares separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Attends and participates in associate disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, associates, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Retention and Training
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Works closely with management and associates to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.
Support
- Conducts weekly meetings with respective business leaders.
- Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 2 or more years of human resource experience in a generalist capacity
