The EH&S Manager plays a pivotal role in leading all aspects of environmental, health, and safety within our organization. This includes responsibility for training, inspections, record-keeping, and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the effectiveness of plant and personnel physical security programs.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, ensuring necessary permits and registrations are up-to-date.
- Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices, including communication.
- Influence a philosophy of strategic safety training and interact with employees to promote safe acts.
- Lead the Safety Committee and coordinate emergency management responses.
- Partner with internal teams to develop comprehensive, EH&S compliant training, auditing, and operations following recurring audits.
- Investigate facility incidents immediately, providing tactical responses and crisis management through the Accident Investigation Program.
- Develop and manage training program curriculums to direct company behavior on topics such as lockout/tag out, hazardous waste, emergency response, hazard communication, spill response, Pollution Incident Prevention Plan, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and related areas.
- Demonstrate leadership and responsiveness in deploying practical, cost-effective solutions to continually enhance the quality of the workplace environment.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment system for the cab pretreat line, including discharge sampling and filing quarterly reports with the relevant authorities.
- Establish process control for the cab pretreatment dip line, including chemical analysis by titration to confirm proper bath chemistries.
- Manage all required Ohio EPA air emissions records and submit quarterly and annual reports.
- Maintain records necessary for the facility's spill prevention control & countermeasures plan (SPCC) and keep the plan up to date.
- Recommend projects and lead initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint, decrease waste, and save energy.
- Direct activities of EHS Technician to implement and sustain environmental, health, and safety initiatives, improving culture and performance within the plant.
This position adheres to the Battle Motors Environmental Health and Safety Program, following all safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe use of equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
