POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Design Lead is responsible for leading our team of machine designers and mechanical design engineers to design tooling, fixtures, and machine structures for our test equipment projects. This position must have close involvement and dialog with other engineers, Materials, Manufacturing and direct customers. This position is responsible for maintaining Bauer’s design and drawing standards, Engineering Change process, technical/component library, and other administrative support systems in the engineering department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but not limited to:
- Review and approve tooling and test stand design products from the team.
- Lean, manage, and hold accountable a small team of designers working in support of multiple project teams.
- Work with operations leadership to determine and carry out prioritized work across multiple projects.
- Maintain design and drawing standards
- Interface closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are easily manufacturable (DFMA)
- Minimal travel is required as necessary for reverse engineering

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- Ability to lead a team of technical personnel
- Knowledge of: Mechanical Design, Developing Concepts, Stress/Load Calculations, Rotating Components, Splines, Bearings, Seals, Gears, Hydraulic Fitting Connections
- In-depth understanding of machining techniques, processes and geometric tolerance
- Exceptional teamwork, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong foundation in PC skills; Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, databases, MRP/ERP systems (Visual ERP system knowledge a plus)
- CAD experience in Solidworks modeling is essential
- Experience in sheet metal design.
- Experience with PDM and/or configuration management systems a plus.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BSME or equivalent work experience
- 7 years of design/drafting experience
- 3 years of experience in management

Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
