Bauer Infrastructure is hiring an experienced Pipe Layer to join the team to install, repair, and maintain underground pipe systems like water mains, storm drains, and sewer lines, including tasks like grading trenches, positioning pipes, and sealing joints using various tools and equipment, ensuring proper alignment and grade according to project plans.
Job Highlights:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday.
- $21.50 per hour based on experience.
Job Roles:
- Grade Preparation: Ensure proper grading to achieve correct pipe slope
- Excavation and trenching: Prepare trenches by digging and leveling the ground using heavy machinery like excavators and backhoes.
- Pipe placement: Carefully position pipes within the trench, ensuring proper alignment and grade using laser levels, transit levels, and grade rods.
- Joint sealing: Connect pipe sections by sealing joints using welding, cement, glue, or other appropriate methods depending on the pipe material.
- Cutting and fitting: Cut pipes to required lengths and make necessary modifications to fit the layout.
- Supporting structures: Install supporting structures like manholes and catch basins as needed
- Safety compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment and awareness of underground utilities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
- Strong industry experiences specific to construction, or equivalent knowledge.
- Understanding of pipe types, fittings, tools, and installation methods.
- Accurately uses equipment and levels to check that grades and slopes are within the requirements of the plans.
Certifications Preferred:
- Confined Space
- Excavation Certification
- OSHA 10
