Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Inspector specializing in streets and utilities to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing construction projects in the Wichita Metro area (Wichita, Maize, Goddard, Andover, etc.) to ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications. You will collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city personnel to maintain high-quality standards and ensure the safety and functionality of utilities and roadways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review construction plans and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor work progress and verify that work is completed according to schedule and quality standards.
- Conduct on-site inspections and document findings in detailed reports.
- Identify and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, architects, project managers, and city personnel.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with problem-solving as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and regulations.
- Produce as-built drawings using GPS survey equipment and PDF editing software.
Qualifications:
- No degree required; experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- 3 years of experience in construction inspection or a related field, preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with GPS survey equipment and technology is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
