The Senior Vice President, Global Medical Affairs will report to the Chief Medical Officer and Head of R&D with primary responsibility to lead and ensure successful execution of all medical affairs programs globally.

This senior role leads a growing team responsible for planning and executing medical affairs studies and programs for development and commercialization in assigned therapeutic areas. The role will also include oversight of many programs instrumental to the successful medical introduction of new indications and products. The individual will represent Medical Affairs to executive leadership, investigators, and the medical community, leading a team that includes Medical Information, MSLs, HEOR, Operations, and the medical device business.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide deep therapeutic area subject matter expertise to an expanding and advancing portfolio that will cover several therapeutic platforms and disease areas.
  • Partner with the cross-functional teams to oversee and assume responsibility for brand plans, including medical objectives, strategies and tactics leading up to launch and carrying through to later stages of commercialization.
  • Ensure that scientific rigor and innovation continue to be integrated into all medical affairs-related development and strategies. Maintain excellent scientific standing among peers and the ability to address issues with an extremely high level of scientific rigor and creative solutions.
  • Develop a world-class medical affairs team; ensuring that our medical team is being challenged and developed to be ready to take on new roles and programs as the pipeline evolves.
  • Development and cultivation of long-term strategic partnerships with clinical experts, advocacy groups, and other external stakeholders
  • Champion of high standards of compliance, ethics, and patient safety, putting patients at the center of all actions.
  • Oversee the development of scientific content for medical communication and scientific education initiatives that occur as a result of studies.
  • Staying abreast of current developments within pertinent medical and scientific therapeutic area through familiarity with current literature, attendance at medical society meetings, involvement with professional associations, and other avenues.
  • Serves as principal spokesperson for the medical affairs function on highly significant matters

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree, Ph. D or Pharm D required
  • Minimum 15 years of experience, with a scientific degree required
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, policies, and regulations.
  • Commitment to improving patient care and outcomes.
  • Led and supported the successful implementation of organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with business goals.
  • Served as a change agent by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging adaptability, and driving employee engagement throughout the change process.
  • Proven track record of leading high performing teams with a focus on delivering results
  • Excellent internal and external collaboration, with experience working successfully with cross-functional teams to achieve business results required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
