Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Develop, troubleshoot and optimize injection molding/extrusion molding processes.
• Will ensure scientific molding principals are applied and followed
• Develops and maintains the Injection Molding process standards in which all parts are manufactured.
• Verifies and applies tolerances for optimum injection molding processes; leads cycle time improvements, mold change time reductions, and decreased process troubleshooting time.
• Reviews production and operating records and resolves technical processing issues
• Follows and leads team for establishing action plans for processes and scrap out of range.
• Involve customer, production, maintenance, quality, engineering and materials personnel in a team approach to problem solving and continuous improvement and assure that all issues are properly resolved and communicated.
• Continually identify and justify improvement opportunities for cost, productivity, downtime and scrap.
• Qualify new molds per customer requirements.
• Ensures appropriate direction, training, and evaluation of process technicians.
• Provide technical support for repair and maintenance of molds.
• Maintains documentation closely following necessary timelines on specific projects
This position requires a minimum of 5 years experience in plastic injection molding process engineering in a high volume production environment; automotive parts manufacturing experience preferred (or a combination of education and equivalent experience). Qualifications include strong injection molding experience in troubleshooting, optimizing processes and mold sampling, knowledge of part and mold design, mold fabrication and plastic resins, experience with robots and other downstream automation, experience with new molding technologies such as two-shot, in-mold decorations etc., working knowledge of SPC, TQM, JIT, excellent communication, interpersonal, project management and technical skills, proven record of success in working with and leading teams, computer skills, strong organizational and project management skills.
