About the role, Your Impact
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a paid Civil Engineering Technician Intern in our Crystal Lake or Chicago, IL office. This on-the job experience will support the firms infrastructure engineering group with the design, and construction of a variety of facilities, and offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients. A variety of responsibilities, and duties will provide a well-rounded foundation in engineering support, design, and plan production.
What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job
- Assist engineers in the plan production of civil infrastructure projects.
- Assist survey crews with topographic survey and construction layout.
- Assist field engineers with quantity calculations, documentation, and field inspection of construction projects.
Education Requirement
- Ongoing pursuit of a 2 or 4-year degree in Construction Technology or Civil Engineering.
Must-haves, what you will bring
- Strong background in AutoCAD.
- Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0.
- Available to start summer 2025.
- Ability to travel throughout Chicago area (own transportation).
- Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Compensation The hourly pay for this role is $22. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
