About the role, Your Impact
Baxter & Woodman formed a strategic partnership with Boller Construction to form Baxter & Woodman Boller Design Build that focuses on the alternative deliver method of design-build. Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an Assistant Design-Build Department Manager in our Water/Wastewater Group. The Assistant Design-Build Department Manager will assist with managing projects, developing business, serving clients, and designing drinking water and wastewater projects for design-build in our Bannockburn, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL office. A successful candidate will benefit from a unique opportunity to advance quickly to a management position leading technical teams, design-build teams, and/or coordinating marketing efforts. This role would also be involved with the Water/Wastewater Group managing projects and designing drinking water and wastewater projects.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Lead the planning, developing, coordinating, and ensuring successful completion of design-build projects.
- Prepare and monitor project schedules to assure successful delivery of projects on time and on budget.
- Prepare engineering project proposals in coordination with the Boller Construction, Department Managers, the Vice President of Water Manager, and the Marketing Department.
- Collaborate with Baxter & Woodman Boller Design Build and sub-contractors to assemble pricing, develop proposals, and determine solutions.
- Work with Boller Construction and other contractors directly on design-build projects.
- Make decisions independently and take responsibility for project engineering solutions.
- Lead single and multi-disciplined projects for both design-build and design-bid-build.
- Represent the company in client and agency meetings to resolve questions and to plan and coordinate work.
- Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas with Baxter & Woodman Boller Design Build, peers, and management team.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members.
- Develop and enhance client relationships and business growth.
- Work with Department Managers to develop department standards and complete peer reviews.
Education/Certification Requirements
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, environmental emphasis.
- Registered professional engineering license, Illinois preferred.
Must-haves, what you will bring
- 8 or more years of experience in the design and project management of water and wastewater projects. This could also include design-build experience.
- Ability to lead, manage, and collaborate with design-build team members.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment for both engineering design and contractors.
Compensation The pay range for this role is $110,000-$130,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
