Scope of Job: This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and skilled repairs on complex production equipment and systems. Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness. Performs equipment failure analysis to complete preventive and unscheduled maintenance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Logs equipment modifications and maintenance details in the designated system. Follows all safety procedures. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Repairs and maintains, in accordance with operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery, and mechanical equipment, such as, conveyor systems, and production equipment, by using hand, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment downtime and implements countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Trains operators and other mechanics on proper procedures as needed.
- Attends company scheduled training classes.
- Complies with company and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bearings, seals & lubrication
- Mechanical drives, including belt, chain, gear, shafts, couplings, and shaft alignment.
- Mechanical timing of equipment
- Pneumatic systems in industrial applications
- Reading equipment diagrams and schematics
- PLC/Controls Troubleshooting, must have working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers. Allen Bradley most used devices in operation.
- Electrical troubleshooting
Education: Highschool diploma or GED required.
Experience: Formal training in the following: air conditioning, welding, machining, auto repair, electronics, or industrial mechanics. Additional years of experience may substitute for training. Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Additional years of experience may substitute for training. Must have 5 years’ experience in a high-speed packaging or similar, manufacturing environment.
