SUMMARY: Operates and/or tends specific machinery to optimize the efficiency of the production line and safety of the food produced.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Under the direction of the Supervisor, operates Sealing, Filling, Cartoning and/or Labeling machine(s).
- Verifies and loads correct materials for the product being run.
- Operates equipment and ensures proper routine maintenance and supplies are provided.
- Observes upstream and downstream process, stopping and starting machinery as necessary to create smooth product flow.
- Cleans machinery as needed during production to ensure optimum efficiency.
- Notifies supervisor when supplies are low or materials are defective; notifies supervisor and mechanic if machinery malfunctions.
- Adheres to established safety rules, internal policies and Food Safety regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one year related work experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple and some complex instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and provide accurate record keeping. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization. Ability to read, write and speak English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to match numbers, weights and codes.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS:
Specific machine Certification; LOTO.
