Position:  Graphic Designer     

Classification:  Full-Time, Exempt

Primary Reporting Relationship:  Communications Director

Secondary Reporting Relationships:  Executive Pastor

Ministry Area:  Communications, Ministry Staff

Job Purpose:  The Graphic Designer collaborates with the ministries and departments of Bay Area Church to execute the entire process of visualizing and creating graphics, including illustrations, logos, layouts, and photos.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist in the management and execution of communication, creative, and marketing strategies and efforts of BAC 
• Design all internal promotion and external marketing campaigns and elements 
• Partner with church and ministry leaders to define, develop, and effectively communicate messages and opportunities to the church and community
• Design logos, graphics, and communication pieces 
• Develop sermon series graphics and elements 
• Aid in the capture and digital distribution of video and photo content
• Work to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
• Assist in maintaining brand and design standards and alignment
• Assist in the creation and management of the Communications Dept. budget
• Other duties as assigned by the Communications Director

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related discipline is preferred; experience in lieu of degree will be considered 
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in communication, marketing, or design role 
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools
• A portfolio showcasing creativity, design skills, and an understanding of branding
• Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory
• Ability to work collaboratively and respond to feedback to refine designs
• Excellent communication skills
• Strive for excellence in completing assigned tasks and responsibilities, always keeping the church's vision and values at the forefront
• Must possess strong multi-tasking capability 
• Having proficiency in video production or social media is a plus, but not required

Essential Job Functions:

• Must be physically able to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, phones, etc. 
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 30 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; perform repetitive motion, such as grasping, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise utilizing finger dexterity 
• Must be able to regularly remain stationary at the computer, requiring repetitive finger movements and manual dexterity
• Must possess the ability to observe details at close range required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and reading
• Must possess the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound
• Must possess the ability to express ideas using the spoken word to convey instructions to stakeholders accurately, loudly, and/or quickly
• Activities occur inside and outside, and the worker is subject to both environmental conditions

Work Schedule:  On-site position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday during the church's office hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm)
