What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Director position at Bay Area Friendship Circle?
The Bay Area Friendship Circle is a local nonprofit organization that works with children, teens, and young adults with special needs. All participants are paired with a trained teen volunteer who provides friendship and support during ongoing programs. We are seeking a charismatic, well organized and detail oriented Program Director to direct, organize, implement and execute our programs.
This is a part time hybrid position with opportunities to become full time.
Current Friendship Circle Programs:
- School Year Programs: Sunday Circle, Young Adult Circle, Kidz Circle
- After School Activities
- Family Programs
Responsibilities:
- Organizes, implements and executes current programs for children, teens, young adults, family programs, and after school activities
- Plans and creates program content and activities
- Modifies and develops new programs as needed
- Hires and manages program contractors, facilitators, and oversees volunteers.
- Maintain and oversee the required equipment, supplies, and materials
- Consistently communicates to participants, families, contractors, and staff members
- Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and service activities provided
- Interviews and admits prospective families with kids, teens and young adults with special needs into Friendship Circle programs
- Works directly with on-site Therapists and Volunteer Coordinator for Friendship Circle programs
- Assists with teen volunteer recruitment for Friendship Circle
- Staff fairs and events for program marketing.
- Sets Annual Program Calendar
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be able to work on Sundays (flexible schedule is allowed during the week) when in person programs are in session
- Experience as a recreational, social, educational or therapeutic Program Manager or Teacher in a non-profit organization, school, community center or similar environment
- Well organized with planning and execution
- Experience with managing multiple programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with programs specifically for children and teens with special needs is a plus
- Works well under pressure
- General knowledge of the Bay Area Jewish Community
- Social media experience
