Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for full-time Hyperbaric Technician position –Weekday shifts (Monday through Friday) 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional fill-in on other shifts may be requested. Training is provided, no previous hyperbaric experience is required.
The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for performing the technical and administrative duties for the clinic to ensure excellent and efficient practices related to patient care, quality, and consistency of care, HIPPA compliance, and relations with patients. Under the direction of the hyperbaric supervisor, the Hyperbaric Technician will administer Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to patients as prescribed by the referring physician. They are responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers, related support systems, and for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the patient. The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for detailed and accurate charting and documentation of patient, physician, and staff interactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Care
- Follow the company's policies and procedures including those required in the Technician Training Outline.
- Treat patients with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in accordance with physician orders and established company and HBOT protocols.
- Follow protocol for appointment changes, cancellations, etc.
- Prepare patients for HBOT treatments using company protocol. Determine patient preferences or specific requests and document them in the patient’s chart.
- Comply with the company’s chamber procedures.
- Keep complete, accurate, and timely patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation.
- Provide informative patient education about hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including appropriate protocols and procedures.
- Communicate clearly with the healthcare team as it relates to the patient, following company policy.
- Track the expiration dates of the patient’s HBOT prescription and insurance authorization on all patients who are routinely treated during your shift.
- Review files for new patients assigned to your shift for completeness and accuracy. Follow up to obtain missing information. Make a daily check of each patient’s file for any new or updated information.
Chamber and Equipment Care
- Perform hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance as required. Ensure all equipment is well maintained, clean and sterilized as required. Maintain daily and periodic equipment maintenance documentation.
- Order gases, patient equipment, and treatment supplies, as directed.
- Immediately report concerns about equipment, supplies, technicians, or other concerns regarding the effective operations of the clinic to the hyperbaric supervisor.
- Maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of treatment and chamber room.
- Participate in company sponsored safety programs and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.
Minimum Requirements
- HS diploma/GED required.
- An active Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English.
- Experience with EHM software.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with minimum supervision.
