Position Title: Legal Content Manager (Attorney/Fellow) Temporary -Remote (This position could be regular full-time, 30 hours per week full-time, or 25-29 hours per week part-time depending on the qualified candidates that apply)

Position Description:
Bay Area Legal Services seeks to fill a Legal Content Manager (Attorney/Fellow) temporary position for a 2025 assignment with the ability to work remotely in Florida full-time (37.5 hours/week or 30 hours/week) or part-time (25-29 hours/week). Attorney/Fellow will facilitate or directly provide qualified legal services to low income clients to meet their civil legal needs.
The Legal Content Manager (Attorney) will lead and manage the firm's website and content, and play a pivotal role in helping increase access to justice using technology: to inform, educate, empower, and guide individuals and families with legal problems to solutions. They will focus on creating legal information, legal action plans, and document assembly guided interviews for housing (70%) and family law (30%) matters affecting low-income individuals and vulnerable populations.
The firm's website, bals.org, serves over 20,000 users each month and continues to grow. This newly created position will have the opportunity to help tens of thousands of individuals and families throughout the Tampa Bay area and across Florida with limited access to legal services.
NOTE: The Legal Content Manager (Attorney) is a grant-funded position with the term of employment to end on December 31, 2025. Additional funding is being pursued to retain this position as a regular full-time employee after December 31, 2025.
This position reports to the firm’s Business Project Manager.
Illustrative Duties:
- Lead and manage the firm’s website and content strategy that meets user needs and organization goals
- Ensure that legal information is legally accurate, in plain language, and up-to-date
- Monitor law changes and other legal developments to ensure content is up-to-date
- Collaborate with content curators, and internal and external stakeholders, to produce new legal resources
- Support, motivate, and recruit content curators (employees) and hold accountable for content quality and deadlines
- Create a variety of content in addition to text, such as flowcharts, document assembly interviews, etc.
- Design, create, manage, and update guided interviews using document automation solutions to generate legal documents and forms for external users (self-represented litigants, etc.)
- Optimize website and content according to SEO best practices.
- Drive traffic to website through organic and paid search
- Conduct testing, user research, and quality assurance to continuously improve website and content
- Establish metrics and standards for content performance and evaluation (month, quarter, annual)
- Develop and enforce content governance standards, including style guide, and content management processes and workflows
- Apply and enforce best practices for optimal user experience (UX) and content discovery
- Provide project management for web and content projects
- Liaising with relevant vendors/consultants (web, video, etc.) for the duration of the project
- Create mutually beneficial partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and local and statewide collaborations related to legal aid, legal technology, and other topics relevant to access to justice
Other Activities:
- Network and build relationships with others in the legal profession, especially in legal aid and access to justice, to collaborate on solutions to major issues
- Keep current on legal technology and innovation
- Keep current on advancements in legal services programs and organizations
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD), Florida Bar licensed and in good standing with The Bar
- 2 years as a practicing attorney experience
- 2 years of proven work experience in publishing digital content (does not have to be full-time)
- Experience distilling complicated concepts into understandable (plain-language), actionable resources
- Experience using Google Analytics or similar tools to evaluate content performance
- Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) and information architecture
- Using content management systems’ Drupal and/or WordPress, or similar CMS
- Understand web design principles and best practices
- Copyediting, proofreading, or academic journal experience
- Knowledge of legal processes, documents, and forms
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once, and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team
- Desire to work with and understand vulnerable populations accessing civil legal aid services
- Ability to work virtually with a diverse group of people and stakeholders in multiple locations
- Confidently interface with all levels of staff including executives and managing attorneys, in addition to board members, contractors, volunteers, and other outside parties.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Quick ability to learn new technology and software (i.e., Slack, Airtable, Zoom)
Desirable Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a legal aid attorney, or family law or housing law attorney
- Experience in family law and/or housing law legal processes, documents, and forms
- Experience creating workflows/flowcharts for legal processes and relevant documentation
- Experience with user research methods and conducting user research (i.e., interviews, surveys, usability testing, etc.)
- Experience building effective partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders
- Experience using Google search tools (i.e., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, etc.)
- Experience using SEO/digital marketing tools (i.e., Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, etc.)
- Experiences with document assembly software (i.e. Gavel, Docassemble, LawHelp Interactive, A2J Author, or similar tools)
- Experience using case management software (i.e., LegalServer, Clio, MyCase, Rocket Matter, etc.)
- Expert project management skills
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization or law firm.
- Solid technical background with an ability to address accessibility and compatibility issues
- Proficiency or fluency in Spanish
Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time):
- Minimum salary $69,400 (increases based on relevant experience). This rate will be prorated based on hours selected
