Tutor - K-5th Grades
Seasonal position: 4 hours per day in tutoring lab, where students will be rotated throughout the day to receive academic support in all subjects.
Start date: September 23th- April 25th, 2025
Shift: M/T/Th/F - 8:30am - 12:30pm W/Prep Day

The Role: Academic Coaches at Bay Area Tutoring Association play a vital role in our mission to support student success. They work closely with a team of educators to meet the needs of all students. Academic Coaches are responsible for guiding students in their learning journeys, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and providing targeted academic support and interventions.
Essential Functions
- Student Motivation: Inspire students to actively participate in learning activities, creating a culture of enthusiasm around various learning experiences. Maintain high behavioral expectations for all students.
- Safe Learning Environment: Ensure students have access to a safe and productive learning environment by enforcing campus safety rules and behavior expectations.
- Guided Learning: Actively guide students in collaborative learning centers through observation and group discussions.
- Small Group Tutoring: Provide small group tutoring sessions focused on literacy and/or math skills. Utilize tailored curricula to align with students' Individualized Learning Plans.
- Progress Monitoring: Conduct monthly progress monitoring assessments for students in need of intervention. Communicate results to families and classroom teachers. Collaborate with grade level teams to interpret data and make informed decisions for student progress.
- Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration with grade level teachers, school administrators, and staff. Actively engage in staff development opportunities to contribute to the success of our students.
Qualifications
- Mission-Driven: Strong commitment to Bay Area Tutoring Association's mission, vision, and goals.
- Passion for Education: A genuine passion for working with children, motivating them to achieve academic success.
- Experience: Previous experience managing and/or teaching elementary-age students is highly preferred.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of staff members.
- Data-Driven: Ability to efficiently interpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data to support students' progress.
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree is a plus, but not required.
