Join the Bay Area Tutoring Association and Make a Difference!We are seeking enthusiastic and patient individuals to join our team as After-School Literacy Tutors at Brooktree Elementary School in the Berryessa Union School District. In this rewarding role, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic growth of 3rd and 4th-grade students.
About the Program:
- Mission: Our after-school program focuses on developing strong foundational literacy skills in young learners.
- Impact: You'll work directly with students to improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills through engaging and personalized instruction.
What You'll Do:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students.
- Assist students with homework and class assignments.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters a love of learning.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to address individual student needs.
- Communicate student progress and observations to program coordinators.
- Adhere to all program policies and procedures.
Ideal Candidate:
- Passionate about working with children and supporting their academic success.
- Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Experience working with elementary school students (preferred).
- Has a basic understanding of literacy development (preferred).
- Reliable transportation is essential.
Program Details:
- Location: Brooktree Elementary School, 1781 Olivetree Dr, San Jose, CA 95131
- Schedule: Monday-at different site, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Friday, 2:45 PM - 4:45 PM
- Duration: 14 weeks
- Student Group Size: Small groups or individual tutoring sessions
- Professional Development: Participate in approximately 14 hours of required training.
