Tutor Position (Grades 3-7) – After-School Program
Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District
Position Overview:
The Bay Area Tutoring Association is looking for dedicated tutors to assist students in grades 3-7 with English Language Arts (ELA) and reading. This after-school program is designed to enhance literacy skills through interactive lessons, reading activities, workbooks, and writing exercises. Tutors will provide personalized support to help students strengthen their reading comprehension and language arts proficiency.
Program Details:
This literacy-focused initiative supports students who need additional help with reading and language development. The program will take place at the following schools within the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District:
- August Boeger Middle School
- Ida Jew Valle Vista Elementary (Grades 3-5)
- Mt. Pleasant Ida Jew Elementary
- Robert Sanders Elementary
Schedule:
- Program Duration: August 2024 – May 2025
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Qualifications:
- Ability to engage and inspire students in a positive learning environment.
- Passion for education and a strong commitment to student success.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred.
- Dedication to fostering academic growth in students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in ELA and reading.
- Develop and deliver engaging, tailored lessons to meet individual student needs.
- Utilize technology and educational resources to improve comprehension and retention.
- Maintain an encouraging and structured learning atmosphere.
- Collaborate with parents and teachers to monitor progress and address challenges.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
Requirements:
- Attendance at a mandatory training session (date to be announced).
- Successful completion of a background check, TB test, and BATA Intro training.
- Compliance with all HR onboarding procedures before employment.
