About the Job
As a therapist at Bay Cliff Health Camp, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating campers based on your area of practice while embracing the camp environment. You will be encouraged to be creative, playful, and engaging with campers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Therapy Program: Develop and implement a therapy program that is attainable within a 7-week timeline.
- Documentation: Complete documentation as required within the setting.
- Camp Life Participation: Participate in camp life.
- Team Communication: Communicate with other members of the team who support the children on your caseload.
- Session Provision: Provide sessions as written on schedule. Make up missed sessions as schedule allows.
- Orientations and Chart Reviews: Participate in orientation week and complete chart reviews for assigned caseload.
- Meetings with Campers and Families: Meet with each camper on caseload and their families during opening weekend.
- Camper Assessments: Assess each camper on caseload and determine frequency of service.
- Schedule Determination: Together with the therapy department, determine schedule for treatment during morning and afternoon treatment times.
- Treatment Modalities: Treatment may also include mealtimes, sessions in cabins, and activities around camp as appropriate.
- Develop a carryover plan/program for each camper to be disseminated to each counselor.
- Carryover Plan Monitoring: Check in on carryover plans regularly and make adjustments accordingly.
- Counselor Training: Train counselors and staff as needed on use of equipment, safety, techniques etc.
- Goal Tracking: Track data on camper goals.
- Departmental Meetings: Attend all departmental meetings.
- Problem Solving Meetings: Attend problem solving meetings for campers on caseloads as invited.
- Camp Activities: Participate in camp activities which includes but is not limited to: eating meals with campers and staff during all work days, assisting in various nighttime activities, providing coverage in units as assigned including covering for counseling staff during afternoon and/or evening rest periods.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have completed one year of college or equivalent training.
- Maturity and Dependability: Dependable and mature.
- Personality Traits: Positive, enthusiastic, and patient with children.
- Independence and Teamwork: Able to work independently, but also cooperatively as a member of a team, under the direction of the Therapy Director.
- Licensure: Nationally endorsed and have an active therapy license in their area of practice for the state of Michigan (OT, PT, SLP). For Speech-Language, may have passed the national examination pursuing Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
