Job Summary/Basic Function
The primary purpose of this position is to assist adult learners in achieving academic success by providing outreach, resources, and personalized support. Daily tasks include making early alert calls, conducting email check-ins, and connecting adult learners with academic support services. Additional responsibilities involve developing materials to promote awareness of academic support, supporting staff recruitment, and maintaining detailed records of services provided. This position may also tutor students or facilitate workshops focused on student success skills. This is a temporary, part-time, grant funded position through August 22, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a Bay College student enrolled in classes during the fall and/or winter semester.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Demonstrated level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency working in an online learning environment.
- Demonstrated appropriate and professional behavior.
- Technology skills and knowledge of using Microsoft Suite and video conferencing software (Teams or Zoom).
- Knowledge of academic and academic support needs of community college students.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work situations.
- Ability to demonstrate courtesy, tact and discretion in dealing with college students as well as members of the local community.
- Ability to respond with judgment and discretion to common inquiries or problems from students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work experience as a tutor.
- Ability or knowledge in working with student information systems
- Experience working with a diverse population
- Ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make check in calls to adult learners pertaining to early alerts.
- Regular email and/or phone check-ins with adult learners.
- Compiling and sharing student success resources for adult learners.
- Connecting adult learners with academic support.
- Sharing information regarding opportunities to learn about tutoring.
- Develop materials to advertise academic supports.
- Academic support staff recruitment efforts.
- Emphasis on providing support to adult learners in an online learning environment.
- Provide tutoring as qualified.
- Provide tech support assistance pertaining to MyBay, Blackboard, 3rd party learning software, login support, and other online campus resources.
- Offer student success skills workshops as qualified.
- Maintain a record of services provided to adult learners.
- Support tutor scheduling.
- Be a go-to person in the Student Success Center for greeting walk-in traffic, escorting students to campus resources, checking out library materials, answering the SSC phone, keeping snack/coffee station stocked.
