Position Summary:
The title may be CFO but you are also the Controller, the VP of Finance, and the Accounting Manager and you will be responsible for being both strategic and tactical. Your strategic duties will include month end close, budgeting, forecasting, and M&A activities but you will also need to be tactical to reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements while also creating journal entries.
Our client has made a couple of acquisitions, and has a couple more under LOI, so you will integrate these companies, set up Shared Services, and help transform the company into something more professional with standard operating procedures. You will work closely with the CEO and COO and also with the PE firm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist CEO and COO in developing and implementing the strategic plan and aligning/procuring resources to meet the goals and objectives of the company
- Responsible for implementing financial policies and procedures, planning, analysis, budget and cash management
- Prepare monthly financial statements and generate accurate and timely internal financial reports and financial model to support planning, forecasting and budgeting
- Prepare and maintain multi-year forecast and perform analysis of budget/forecast variances and financial trends
- Implement financial policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure proper use and effectiveness
- Monitor financial covenants in debt agreements and maintain current lender relationships
- Present financials to Board on a quarterly basis
- Work with the Board to evaluate business acquisition opportunities
- Partner with other leaders in the business to develop and implement process improvements and to create more efficient accounting and administrative processes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; CPA or MBA desired
- At least eight (8) years of progressive experience
- Must be a current Controller, Director of Finance, VP of Finance, or CFO
- Transportation/trucking/logistics company experience desired
- Experience working for a company with revenues in the $25-100M range
- Desire to be hands-on
- M&A and integration experience is essential
- Must have experience working with banks and understanding of financial covenant restrictions
- Financial modeling experience
- Desire to be part of a team responsible for running a business
- Experience working for a private equity portfolio company highly desired
