JOB TITLE : MAINTENANCE I - GROUNDSKEEPER
REPORTS TO : EVS DIRECTOR
JOB SUMMARY :
Emphasis will be on outside landscaping, groundskeeping, equipment repair maintenance, and building maintenance during the warm months and custodial care, routine building maintenance, and maintenance helper during the cold months.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Cleaning, maintaining, and repair of grounds equipment.
- Grounds keeping tasks, including lawn care, mowing, raking, trimming various plants, trees, and shrubs, weeding, and planting of trees, shrubs, flowers, and various plants.
- Shoveling, digging, sweeping, climbing, painting, and various tasks associated with maintaining the outside of the facility.
- All tasks associated with landscaping.
- Edging sidewalks.
- Collecting garbage and trash.
- Raking and general clean up tasks to keep the outside looking presentable.
- Applying fertilizer, insect spraying, and pest control.
- General grounds and outside maintenance and improvements.
- Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as operation of snowplows, blowers, shoveling snow and pick-up truck as needed.
- May be assigned to pick up various supplies for the Facility.
- Cleans non-medical areas of the facility, mopping, sweeping floors, vacuuming carpets, emptying waste baskets, and dusting. Will remove debris to designated storage areas.
- Periodically performs extended cleaning, removing wax, cleaning, waxing, buffing floors, and shampooing carpets.
- Will perform light maintenance tasks, changing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, washing walls and service equipment, such as food carts, and other durables. Will make light repair on such equipment.
- Will participate in furniture moving, and receiving storage of materials entering the facility.
- Will remove garbage receptacles, emptying, and removing to designated service areas.
- Regularly monitors boiler room equipment, checking gauges, resetting in accordance with well-defined standard and promptly alert supervisor to improper operation of suspected malfunction.
- Performs routine generator checks and testing.
- Secures building, checking for secured doors, windows, directing visitors, noting and reacting to unauthorized visitors, and promptly alerting proper authority in the event of an emergency.
- Performs plumbing and hearing tasks, checking heating system, and augering plugged drains.
- Performs grounds maintenance tasks as assigned, will remove and gather time cards, shovel show, rakes leaves, etc.
- Regularly uses buffer, floor scrubber, mops, vacuum, receptacles, food carts, and general maintenance tools.
- Periodic assignments may include painting a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces.
- In all capabilities utilizes safety practices to assure residents’ well-being and safety of visitors and facility personnel.
- Is knowledgeable of Resident Rights and ensures resident privacy and dignity and helps ensure a safe, secure environment for all residents.
- Completes annual Inservice training requirements, maintains acceptable attendance, and dresses in accordance with Dress Code Policy.
- Responsible for appropriate use of Facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.
- Maintains confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and Facility information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
