Work may be performed during the day, evenings, weekends and/or holidays. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of water safety rules, regulations, and County policies.Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and facilities used in lifesaving emergencies and parks maintenance.Skilled in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with public.Outstanding project management and organizational skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to make sound decisions and react calmly in emergencies.Ability to meet and communicate safety concerns and deal tactfully with the general public and to express oneself effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, the general public and county officials.Ability to detect improper conduct or unsafe practices and report the condition to appropriate authority. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Ability to obtain Lifeguard Certification, CPR and emergency medical procedures. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying and adverse weather, water, and surf conditions. May require some exposure to irate customers, extreme noise, extreme temperatures (heat & sun), odors, heights, and/or dust. This position requires some exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g. exposure to environmental changes, outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, hazardous material, heavy equipment) This position may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Stooping, sitting, crouching, walking, running, swimming, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, kneeling, reaching, pulling, talking, standing for more than two hours at a time, finger movement and repetitive motions. Frequent lifting of 10 to 100 pounds.
