NATURE OF JOB:
This is maintenance and construction work in the electrical trade on a journeyman level. Work is performed under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent.
- Performs general and specialized tasks in the construction, renovation, modification, installation, and repair of buildings, equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
- Installs, maintains, and enhances electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, ballasts, and wiring.
- Inspects, tests, and diagnoses issues with electrical systems and components.
- Performs all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards.
- Tests electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning.
- Performs preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
- Troubleshoots problems and makes timely repairs.
- Orders and/or picks up necessary supplies and materials; submits invoices for payment; reviews monthly purchases.
- Completes required documentation of repairs and service information in a computerized maintenance management system.
- Assists other trades worker’s in their specialty when required.
- Available to perform occasional work beyond normal business hours; performs on-call duty during designated times throughout the year.
- Regular reliable full-time attendance as scheduled.
- The employer may add to or change duties at any time and as determined by the County and its leaders to best ensure that the public is served through the work of the Department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
- Two (2) years’ experience as a journeyman level electrician.
- Must be able to comprehend, speak and read the English language.
- Must have and maintain good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with the public.
- A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver license upon offer of employment with a driving record acceptable to the County Driving Policy and insurance program.
- Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools of the electrical trade.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials for the electrical trade.
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with public.
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work from blueprints, rough sketches, and oral and written instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work is performed indoors as well as outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions; some work requires being on the roofs of buildings, inside attics, floor crawlspaces. Position involves working from rooftops, inside attics, above ceilings, floor crawl spaces and basements.
This position requires some exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, etc.). This position may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may include completing and successfully passing medical evaluations or clearances.
This position requires stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, visual acuity (i.e. seeing up close, seeing far away, depth perception), kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions. This position may require frequent lifting and carrying of 25-50lbs, and occasionally up to 100lbs.
Salary : $46,134 - $80,413
