Job Title: Community Support Specialist

As a Community Support Specialist, you will provide community-based support and training to adults with Intellectual Disabilities (I/DD) and Autism, enabling them to maintain and develop independent living skills. This is a non-exempt position with no supervisory responsibilities.Essential Functions:
- Adhere strictly to the program model, including clinical, programmatic, and quality protocols.
- Exercise strong clinical judgment in observing, supporting, resourcing, and communicating with individuals.
- Teach and reinforce activities of daily living, such as medication management, hygiene, cleaning, personal property management, relationship development, budgeting, transportation skills, and safety.
- Implement and develop program activities to reinforce and develop skills, utilizing the teachable moment when possible.
- Follow and implement all program safety procedures, including personal safety, crisis assessment, prevention, and intervention.
- Maintain programmatic documentation.
- Deliver supports and services in a culturally sensitive and responsive manner.
- Provide accurate and timely communication to the Program Director regarding clinical, programmatic, operational, or community changes.
- Offer specialized training and instruction to individuals and coworkers on an assigned basis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Department of Public Health certification in medication administration is required.
- Applicants lacking Medication Certification must become certified within 90 days of hire date to retain employment.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs and provide emergency physical intervention as needed.
- Certification in Prevent Training is required; applicants lacking certification must become certified within 90 days of hire date to retain employment.
- Current driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Use of personal cell phone and personal vehicle.
