Job Summary:
The YMCI Family Partner works collaboratively with other members of the Boston Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention and provides peer support to parents of children served by the program. The YMCI Family Partner uses their personal and professional life experiences to provide consultation and training for staff and others to increase awareness and improve the effectiveness of parent-professional partnerships to meet the needs of children and families, and to participate in program and community meetings to maximize parent voice, choice, and involvement throughout the service delivery process. The YMCI Family Partner contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by working effectively with clients, family members, police, community partners, and the YMCI team in a professional, hopeful, and respectful manner to ensure that client’s needs are being met. Given the nature of crisis services, provision of holiday and weekend coverage may be expectations for staff working in this position. Flexible scheduling is available as the service runs 24/7.

Essential Functions of Position:
● Provide peer support which is defined as using one’s personal and professional life experiences to establish credibility and infuse hope for a better future, demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and assist with problem solving.● Actively participate in the ongoing follow up for families served by the mobile team including telephonic and face-to-face interventions, identifying resources for families, initiating referrals in service of establishing wraparound supports, and acting as a liaison between families and current providers, schools, and state agencies.● Provide parents and caregivers with information about YMCI and the wraparound process and resources to assist them to successfully engage.● Learn the family’s story, culture, strengths, and concerns.● Produce and maintain accurate and timely documentation.● Perform all other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for the Position:
● Experience as a caregiver of a family member with special needs and preferably a family member with mental health needs.● A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related area preferred. High School diploma or GED required.● At least one year experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental health needs or similar human service needs preferred.● Willingness to serve as a mentor to family members by sharing own personal experiences with the purpose and intent to build trust and collaboration.● Demonstrated ability to work in a pressured situation and maintain clarity, focus, judgment, and compassion.● Ability to work with people in crisis in a hopeful and compassionate manner and to model this for others.● Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.● Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.● CPR and First Aid certification required within 3 months of hire.● Ability to assess children and adults in their homes and apartments with stairs.● Current State issued valid Driver’s License and use of reliable personal vehicle for work related travel● Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, pay differential offered for candidates with fluency in certain essential languages.
