Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including inpatient facilities, clinics, and hospitals. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical-surgical environments, hospital medicine, and trauma care. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients while assisting with daily activities and medical needs.
Duties
- Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any significant changes to nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Help with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas, ensuring a safe environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Assist in outpatient settings as required, including clinics and surgical units.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with various healthcare settings including Level I and Level II Trauma Centers, PICU, OR, and inpatient care is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while demonstrating compassion and empathy.
- Must be able to follow instructions accurately while adhering to safety protocols.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid is desirable but not mandatory.
